METAL SCREENS WITH ACRYLIC INLAY - THE SPROUTS SCREEN
YGD's screens refuse to let the functional brush aside form. While our world is changing, YGD’s design philosophy is not - make it relevant, beautiful, and unique. 4 new designs showcase how you can use our acrylic and metal screens to create separated spaces while still defining great design. Above you’ll see our Sprouts Screen forging new terrain in a dining area. A laser-cut pop of color with acrylic inlay means that customers can be protected in public areas while also keeping it visually interesting.
The theme of connectivity and coming together as a unit plays a central theme in this workplace piece for Samsung Dallas Headquarters. Detailed in our proposal to design partner HLW International as a "messy stream of light, reflections and color, each element with its own direction and material creating a beautiful stream through the architectural space" this custom "Galaxy Stream" piece was inspired by the ethos of Samsung as well as their signature brand colors and products.
Samsung wanted the fixture to resonate with their brand aesthetic. "Samsung" means 3 stars in Korean. Seeking a balance between an abstract and literal interpretation of this concept, YGD was asked to get creative and we set to work creating options. A variety of space-based options were presented but ultimately the "galaxy" option was the most far out.
The fixture was more sculptural and less dependent on lighting. A digital screen placed directly behind the piece which added the additional design challenge of maintaining negative space to see the screen while also have the sculpture visible from several vantage points.
Safina’s private dining room, within the InterContinental Houston Hotel at Texas Medical Center, showcases YGD’s “Sunlight on a Cloudy Evening” light sculpture. The restaurant pays homage to wellness-driven food and it was important to incorporate saturated colors found in nature within our design to inspire, uplift and enlighten dinner conversations.
Inova Corporate Center in Denver was a hot property that came on the market. Formerly known as Dry Creek Corporate Center, it was purchased and rebranded as Inova Dry Creek. It houses major companies and offer amenities such as a light rail shuttle and rotating food trucks. We worked with Waring Associates to produce one of our signature designs, Trapeze 3.0, for the lobby space. This modern, complex workplace design is a burst of inspiration for employees and customers entering the space.
A spark. A moment of ignition. A world bursting into flame to begin anew. Our newest collection focuses on the future. The Year 3000. Each lighting, screen or sculpture piece imagines a world years ahead, exhibiting strange and new metallic or colorful growth among the ruins.
Our production team putting their skills to good use building PPE face shields for medical professionals. Inspired by Inksmith's tutorial on mask building we printing and producing shields to help protect our most essential workers at this time. If you have production capabilities please take a moment to check out how to help.

701 Carlson is an architecturally engagingly multi-tenant property west of Minneapolis. Adorned with walking trails, gardens, and a lake in the exterior it seems only right that the interior is equally defined by luxury. This custom rod piece for RSP Architects at Carlson Tower is made up of nearly 2500 powder-coated tubes. We built this bit of architectural eye candy to immediately engage workers and clients in the lobby of the building.
The rods are a high shine prismatic metallic which reflects the downlights. An initial prototype was built for this piece to confirm spacing and design specs for RSP.

Named as one of Crain’s Chicago Business’ Best New Event Spaces in 2019, Eleve Ballroom at the Swissotel in Chicago is a top floor event space that overlooks the Chicago riverfront. Custom designed for The Gettys Group, our Prismatic fixture runs the length of the ballroom with five separate elements in the recesses of the ceiling that complement the signature modern style of Swissotel. The downlight through the acrylic fixture adds beautiful rainbows and refraction to the dynamic space.
In the heart of South Beach, this destination hotel is just steps from the white sands of the ocean. Simeone Deary of Chicago recently undertook the recent 50 million dollar renovation to add signature gold and painterly strokes to elevate the beach vibe into a luxury experience. Out Tailfeathers light awaits visitors at the entry of an event space adding elevation and artistic flair to the elegance of the room.

This year has brought us a wealth of new and innovative projects that we were able to really stretch our design legs on. From an office building and hotel in Boston to a Dog Museum in New York, your creativity inspired us to reach new levels of cool design in workplace, hospitality, retail and more. Thank you for allowing us to build these dreams.

Located in the heart of downtown Nicollet Mall this new multi-res high rise was built to take full advantage of the views, dining, and shopping experiences Minneapolis offers. This custom piece was built to hang in the lobby of the residential tower at 365 Nicollet and is a unique sculpture that reflects the pristine and modern look of the space. Steel rods were welded together and strung with steel cable from mirror composite ceiling discs to create a geometric jumble of shapes that speaks order to chaos.
Big thanks to NEWH for featuring us in the Who's Who section of their Winter issue! We also had the added bonus of getting to visit with 2 of our favorite YGD designers Dasomm Choi and Kristina Albu. It was their first time to NY and the city provided loads of inspiration for our upcoming collection. We talked all about their design experience along with CEO Carey Schuster's as well as what's coming next, all from the amazing penthouse suite of the Ludlow Hotel (stay tuned for more!) In the meantime, check out our bold little booth on Interior Design Magazine's BDNY 2019 Minute with CEO Carey Schuster above and be sure to contact us to learn more about The Ombre Experiment!

Managing money means being flexible so it's no wonder the shape of the parallelogram was used to reflect the adaptive culture of Baird Asset Management in NYC. It’s also no surprise that Gensler NY was the design firm of choice for their tricky workplace lobby space. The unique length of the room required flexibility and a little ingenuity to create a piece that maintained Gensler's high design standards while also filling up the length of the room. Yellow Goat's custom Cirrus fixture is a key player in adapting to the demanding shape and also reflecting the client’s key request that the fixture artistically reflect the parallelogram look of Baird’s logo without being too literal. Gensler worked directly with YGD to fulfill both requests…
We're loving the look of our Shooting Stars in this wild house by Powell & Bonnell. Each room is unabashedly unique and our fixture helps keep up this trend in the dining room. Check out the full article at House Beautiful.
Anything is PAWSIBLE in New York City, including the opening of a brand new dazzling museum devoted entirely to DOGS! The American Kennel Club's Museum of the Dog has relocated to a prime spot at 101 Park Ave in New York City and Yellow Goat Design has a prominently placed "doggie in the window" for all of NYC to see! Working with Gensler NYC on the design, Yellow Goat and Gensler went through several iterations (including mesh and metal rods) before settling on the iconic wireframe pup you see placed strategically at the forefront of the museum. The dog’s position gazing out of the window represents both the nature of dogs and stands as a beacon welcoming visitors to the museum. The powder coated frame can be lit with LED's to change the color and the mood (just like the empire state building!)
Very excited to be featured in two recent articles in Restaurant D+D. The first feature is in a product guide to lighting with insights from Cooper Carry's Principal & Lighting Designer Anita Summers. This piece features our 90 Degrees light, a futuristic take on a distant galaxy. Our (E=) is featured in Restaurant D+D's solution center and easily solves the problem of great lighting design.
So proud to part of this meticulous collaboration featured in Interior Design Magazine at Wells Fargo Center between Convene, HOK, and Gensler. You'll find our Gotcha pendants in the ground floor cafe alongside Hay tables, Hans Wegner armchairs and a DWR sofa. Check out the full project here.
A Little Magic was involved in creating these fixtures for Pimco in Washington, DC. They may look like your everyday design at first glance but when you reach the right angle...ta da! You’ll see the floor number magically appear in gold! Working with Wright Heerema Architects we created golden rods surrounded by suspended crystals creating the illusion of a waterfall and topped off with a mirror composite ceiling plate. See the magic happen in the video below....
Our Tempered fixture is shown prominently in the design of Hotel X in Toronto featured in the January 2019 edition of Hospitality Design's buyers guide. Designed and built for Stephen B Jacobs group, this glowing swish is made of synthetic metal wicker and can come in an array of colors along with a warm or cool light option.
Problem spaces. We all know them and we all...well....avoid them. In the case of Hoyts cinema located in New Zealand, at the Westfield Riccarton shopping center, Yellow Goat took one problem space from frustrating to fantasy with a little ingenuity and a green (and gold) thumb. Aptly called our 'Field of Dreams,' our Design Director, Jerzy, collaborated with Lume Design (a long-time friend and client) to create a garden in the sky.
Designed by Jerzy to reflect Christchurch's history of greenery, water and flowers, the piece also draws focus to the theater's entryway and creates a space where people will come - again and again.
